| PDP leaders demand stern punishment to erring security forces | | ‘Register strong protest against civilian killings in Yarbugh’ | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 15 Registering their strong protest against the killing of four civilians by the troopers at Yarbugh Rafiabad in Baramulla district, senior party leaders of PDP Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, Nizamudin Bhat, Sayed Basharat Bukhari, Peerzada Mansur Hussain and Bashir Assad have demanded stern punishment to the erring security personnel. In a joint statement issued here today the PDP leaders condemned the barbaric action of security forces in strongest possible terms and asserted that such incidents were likely to hamper the peace-process and warned that such barbaric acts would be detrimental to the efforts being made at political level aimed at the resolution process and respect for human rights. Describing the act against humanity, the leaders said that a strong message should go that such acts were intolerable. The leaders said that during Mufti Muhammad Sayed led coalition government, the security agencies were made accountable and the people were feeling secure because of the writ of the government as human dignity was top priority of PDP led coalition. The leaders further maintained that police should refrain from applying brute force against people whenever any public outrage is invoked by such inhuman incidents and asserted that utmost care should be taken to maintain and respect the human rights. The leaders demanded that enquiry officer appointed to investigate the matter should be given week’s time to submit the report so that culprits are booked without any delay and maintained that delay in implementation of the reports have rendered them meaningless which should not be the case in the fresh enquiry ordered in Yarbugh episode. |
