IGNOU to set up 5 knowledge centres

IGNOU is one of the leading Universities in the country where age is no bar in seeking education. Around 18 lakh students are getting education through this University.
Q.1 What is the aim of IGNOU?
Ans:- The aim of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is to reach to un reach. Earlier, education was confined to special classes then realizing this fact, Government of India passed 1985 INGOU Act so that education could reach to every individual. It is through this University people of far flung areas, employees, business men and others can get education while performing their duties.
Q.2. What are the flexibilities of the University?
Ans:- It is the University which has no four walls .Education courses, books written by different authors, are available to the students. It has branches in most of the states. One can transfer his course from one state to other ,in this way wastage and stagnation have been prevented.
Q3. What is the methodology of University?
Ans:- Apart from comprehensive reading material, the students are being imparted education through audio and video mode and FM centre. Prasar Bharti also assists to impart education. One can get education while sitting in his home. Gyana channel has also been introduced to provide education which is now available in DTH. One can call to the channel to revise the course, if he has any confusion.
Q 4. What are the new launches of University?
Ans:- University is launching vocational education, as earlier university, is running with one hundred and twenty five programmes and education is imparted through friendly way. Another important thing is that IGNOU can give certificate to those who do not have but who can read, write and speak. There is six months course, if he passes the examination after going through the course, he can be awarded with certificate and marks sheet.
Q.5 What state government is doing to expand this university?
Ans:- State government is helping us in every field. A few days back Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during a conversation had assured to provide appropriate land for the IGNOU Centre here which is presently running in the building of SPMR College of Commerce. J&K has two regional centres, one each in Jammu and Kashmir. The University is establishing its knowledge centres at Kathua, Maralia, Nagri, Slanin and Sarnah.
