| Hamid Kashmiri releases Khalid Bashir’s poetic collection | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 17
‘Khawab Paara’, a poetic collection of Khalid Bashir Ahmad was released here at College of Education on Saturday by eminent critic, poet and writer Professor Dr. Hamidi Kashmiri. It is for the first time of about two decades that former Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Dr. Hamidi Kashmiri participated in a literary function. Among others, the impressive literary function was attended by Ganpeth awardee, Professor Rehman Rahi, Padam Shri awardee Amin Kamil, Farooq Nazki, Director Doordarshan, Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, Director Information Zaffer Ahmad, poets, writers intellectuals, journalists and art and literature lovers. In his presidential address Professor Hamidi Kashmiri appreciated the poetic work and said that literary activities are important for social evolution. He said the literary works of poets and writers are indication of the future that lies for the languages like Urdu and Kashmiri. Professor G.R. Malik presented a critical appreciation of Khawab Paara while a paper of Dr. Fareed Parbati was also read out on the occasion. Renowned Ghazal singers Sham Sajan and Muneer Ahmad Mir enthralled the audience with the rendering of a few Ghazals of Khalid Bashir. The poet in Khalid Bashir was at his best when he read out few of his works which were highly appreciated by the audience.
