| NZIEA holds women convention | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 17 Women conventions were organized by North Zone Insurance Employees Association NZIEA, representing LIC employees of the state, at Jammu and Srinagar simultaneously. As per a press release, the meeting was presided over by A M Tantray, president of the organization at Srinagar while the meeting at Jammu was presided over by Rajesh Gupta, vice president of the organization. Pawan Gupta, divisional secretary said that the violence against women in the form of female infanticide, female foeticide and dowry deaths is increasing day by day and it is necessity of the day to aware women members about the current scenario so that they may play an active role in fighting violence against women in our society. The main agenda of the convention was to form a women sub-committee of NZIEA that will work to protect rights of working women apart from other issues related to women. It was also discussed in the convention how to empower women folk of society, who can play vital role to change the society as a whole. Women sub-committee was formed as: convener Neelam Sharma, co-conveners Veena Koul from Jammu and Mubina from Srinagar, executive members Ritu Sambyal, Rekha Rani, Reva Kohli from Jammu and Astifa from Srinagar.
