| Director School Education stresses for healthcare facilities to nomads | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | may 17
Director School Education, Jammu, Mr. A. K Raina presided over the valedictory function of III batch of " First Aid Training programme" of Mobile Teachers of Jammu Division at Jammu today. Among others dignitaries, Mr. T. R Gupta, Deputy Director, Health Services and Mr. Mohinder Sharma Coordinator of training programme were also present on this occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Director School Education, Jammu stressed the need to spread awareness about healthcare among the nomadic communities and described in detail the pivotal role which the mobile teacher can play in this field. The main objective of the training programme is to train the Mobile Teachers on various aspects of first aid and also to give them information about the various communicable diseases, which are of common occurrence among the Gujjar and Backerwal communities. Because of nomadic mode of life, the lack of medical facilities becomes a major problem. The trained mobile teachers can provide necessary first aid and medical guidance to the patients till they reach Hospital for proper medical attention, he added. It is worthwhile to note that the programme of imparting "First Aid Training" to the Mobile Teachers was taken up by the Director School Education, Jammu on the desire of the Chief Minister. The first batch of mobile teachers was trained from 12-18, Feb, 2008 in which 101 mobile teachers from Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Doda participated. In the 2nd batch 82 teachers of District Rajouri and Poonch were given training w.e.f. 05-07 May, 2008. The 3rd batch comprising of 48 mobile teachers of the same districts were trained from 15-17, May, 2008.
