Mangat assures better facilities, modernization of schools

JAMMU, AUGUST 30- Transport Minister Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma today inspected the educational institutions situated in Jammu West besides taking stock of the works being executed in these institutions.
The schools inspected by the Minister include, Government Girls Higher Secondary Schools Canal Road and Nowabad Talab Tillo, Government Higher Secondary School Sarwal, Government Middle School Janipur, Government High School Janipur Colony, Government Girls High Schools Toph Sherkhanian and Rajpura Mangotrian.
At Government Girls Higher Secondary School Canal Road, the Minister laid foundation of an examination hall to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh. He also inspected the portion of school building that has been declared as unsafe and directed the accompanying R&B engineers to repair the building for which Director School Education would provide the necessary funds. He was apprised by the engineers that the proposals and plans to renovate the unsafe complex has been prepared and an estimated amount of Rs 3.79 lakh is likely to be incurred.
Mr. Sharma also instructed the PHE engineers to install a hand pump in the institutions apart from construction of path and platform.
Expressing his satisfaction over the quality of works executed at Government Girls High School Resham Ghar, the Minister inaugurated additional 4-room accommodation at the school constructed at a cost of Rs 5.82 lakh. He ordered the engineers to execute the additional works in the institution at the earliest that mainly include repairs of classrooms, removal of mulba, taking remedial measures to prevent seepage, et al.
Mr. Sharma also inaugurated newly constructed examination hall at a cost of Rs 10.50 lakh at Government Higher Secondary School Sarwal. On the demand of staff of institution for setting up conveniences, he informed that six toilets would be constructed besides additional accommodation to cater to the increasing enrollment of students in the school. Inspecting the facilities available at the institution, he directed the engineers to upgrade the office complex and construct the science laboratory for which additional funds would be provided.
At Government Middle School Janipur, the Minister inaugurated the conveniences raised for the students and ordered renovation of the complex that was in dilapidated condition. He instructed for dismantling the existing complex that is unsafe and said that the new construction should be airy and large enough to accommodate the students. The construction of boundary wall too was instructed for the institution, while at Government Girls High School Toph Shekhanian, he inaugurated the additional accommodation complex constructed at an cost of Rs 3.31 lakh. Repairs of the existing school building that has developed cracks and resulted in seepage of the roof too was ordered besides assuring dispensary facility in the locality. Installation of water cooler in the institution too was directed by the Minister so as to afford to the students cool and safe drinking water.
