5 Jaish militants gunned down
‘Major blow to outfit’

Jaish-e- Mohammed outfit today suffered a major blow when the Security Forces on Saturday gunned down five militants of the outfit at Lurgam Tral in South Kashmir Pulwama district , during an encounter lasting for few hours.
Acting on specific information regarding the presence of militants in village Lurgam, Police, CRPF and Army launched a joint operation and cordoned off the area.
As the troops reached the targeted place, militants hiding inside a house, opened indiscriminate firing, which was duly retaliated. In the ensuing encounter five militants holed up in the house were gunned down.
Police sources quoting Inspector General of Police S. M. Sahai Srinagar said that initial contact was established with the militants after a patrolling party of 185 CRPF was fired upon at village Lurow Jagir Tral in the morning. The militants tried to escape after initial contact was established, however they were swiftly cordoned by Quick Reaction Team of police Tral and 42 RR.
Two, among the slain militants, have been identified as Waseem Hassan Ahanger alias Qari Asif s/o Ghulam Hassan Ahanger r/o Kuchmulla Tral, a self styled District Commander of Jaish Mohammad and Mohammad Yousuf Bhat @Prince s/o Abdul Samad Bhat r/o Chrersu Awantipora.
Sources said that Qari Aisf was active since 2004 and was operating in Tral area while Prince was active since 2007 in Awantipora and Tral areas. He said that no collateral damage was caused in the encounter. These two militants were involved in many militancy related cases, the sources added.
The killing of its six cadres is being described as a major blow to Jaish Mohammad outfit in Tral area as all the top commander of the organization have been wiped out The identity of other four is being established.
The ammunition recovered from the possession of slain militants included four AK 56, twoAK47 magazines, one Chinese Pistol, six Chinese Grenades, 21 AK Magazines six round of UBGL, one Radio set, one Chinese pistol magazine, one Com, one radio set Alinko one Radio set Hughes, four Antennas and 10 Mobile hand sets
