In a stern warning to the congress led coalition government Prof Hari Om said “people of Jammu will not accept Chenab Valley Corpration unless its composition and framework ensure complete control of Jammu region over the project. BJP would see to it that its headquarters are in Jammu. Seeking clarification from the union power minister the state BJP leader said BJP is in dark whether the state government has accepted the Union Power Ministry’s recommendation to install a 1000MW thermal power plant in Jammu to meet the power needs of the state. It also wants to know whether the representatives of the state government have opposed the proposal of thermal power plant or not. As for the BJP, it has the information that the state government has opposed the Union Power Ministry’s proposal because it benefits the people. It is for the state government to clear its position. Pointing fingers towards PDP leadership the BJP leader said the whole campaign which is being spearheaded by the PDP focuses on control of the hydroelectric potential is basically part of a broader strategy evolved to divide Jammu province along the Chenab River. In a situation, where both the NC and the PDP have been relentlessly trying to divide Jammu on communal lines, the creation of Chenab Valley Corporation is the first step towards the creation of Greater Kashmir. |
