| Top HM commander arrested | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 18 Security forces on Sunday claimed to have apprehended a battalion commander of Hizbul Mujahideen from a far off village in Kupwara District of North Kashmir. Police sources quoting SP Handwara, Dr. Haseeb Mughal told that on specific information regarding the presence of militants at village Chak Sanzipora, troops of Police and 30-RR launched a search operation. During the cordon and search operation, the cops of police and army came under heavy fire, which was equally retaliated, police said. The operation party strategically tightening of cordon to the holdup militant due to which he lost the morale and finally tried to conceal his arms ammunition in the nearby bushes and planed to escape from the cordon, Police sources added. It was at this point that operation party apprehended the militant with the recovery of one AK 47 rifle, three magazines, forty-three rounds of ammunition, two UBGL grenades and one Chinese grenade. The arrested militant has been identified as Shaheen Ahmad Malik @ Sajad @ Usman son of Gaffar Malik, resident of Guloora Handwara. He was active in the Mawar, Qaziabad and Guloora area of Handwara since last nine years In this connection case FIR No. 70/2008, U/.s 307/ RPC, 7/27 A. Act stands registered in police station Handwara and investigation taken up. |
