| Mesmerizing cultural bonanza by Inf Deptt. | | Mangat for cultural synthesis | | JAMMU, AUGUST 30: Exuding confidence that the young talent could emerge as budding stalwarts given opportunity to exhibit their hidden capabilities in limelight, the Minister for Transport Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma applauded the Information Department for contributing a lot in carrying the students who could bring great laurels for the state. Addressing the gathering on the occasion of a cultural extravaganza presented by the Information Department as part of 60th Independence Day celebrations, the Minister said that such events not only encourage the artists but moreover reminds us of our glorious history as also encouraging synthesis among the pre and present cultures. Remembering the sacrifices of the great heroes, Mr. Sharma said that this is the occasion to pay tributes to their heroic deeds and pledge to follow their footprints for preserving the hard earned Independence. Mr. Sharma said that maximum development works have been executed during the present regime. The Government of India has also been liberally releasing funds for proper development of then state. He said the people themselves would witnessed tremendous progress in every sphere in coming years. For the first time the most dedicated and honest officers have been given due recognition by honouring them while the corrupt one have been punished as per policies of Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. To mark Independence Day celebrations, a mesmerizing cultural programme was organized wherein students from different schools and reputed local artists participated. Patriotic songs, Dogri, Rajasthani Folk Dances, Skits and other items enthralled the audience. Jeevan Sharma, a reputed artist of the department concluded the programme with a patriotic chorus. Jeevan Sharma had a rare opportunity to meet President of India recently at Srinagar where he was specially called to present an item. On the occasion, Dogri folk song by Mr. Bansi Dogra was adjudged the best while Dogri song and Rajasthani song by students of New Era Public School and Shangrilla Public School respectively were also awarded. Joint Director Information Department, Jammu, Mr. S. K. Sharma while welcoming the guests said that the department always on the job to highlight the talent by encouraging the artists and students. He said despite financial constrains and other resources, the department is not only rendering services to the best of the capacity but even picking up fast on the modernization front surpassing their compeers in media and Information Technology related fields. Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Pramod Jain, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Deputy Director of Information PR Mr. Mohammad Shafi Dar and Deputy Director of Information Hq. Mr. M. R. Sangra were also present on the occasion. |
