| PDP ready to contest from all segments in Rajouri-Poonch | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 18 Making its intentions clear to go in for elections without any alliance, the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has almost decided to contest forth coming assembly elections from all the seven assembly constituencies in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Addressing several public meeting across the border district of Poonch , PDP general secretary Murtaza Khan claimed that the party has developed a strong base across the Pir Panchal region during the past many years, and several grass root level leaders and people in large number have entered into the party fold. He said people of this border region are impressed by the futuristic vision of the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and the pro people policies and programs of the party. PDP general secretary and MLC said it was due to the efforts of the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and Party president Mehbooba Mufti that Poonch-Rawalkot road and other meeting points were opened which led to the emotional reunion of the families after a gap of more than sixty years. He said it was the greatest ever gift for the people of the Rajouri Poonch, where 85% of the divided families are living. The PDP General Secretary, who was on a week long mass contact programme recently, claimed that the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch have seen unprecedented development. He claimed that the party has developed a strong support base in most of the constituencies across the region. And people from all walks of life are putting their trust into the leadership of the party. Criticizing National Conference, Murtaza Khan said that Party which remained in power for nearly three long decades did nothing for upliftment of the people in this border region. He said it was only after PDP resumed power the long cherished dream of the people could be realized when construction on Mughal road was resumed with personal efforts of PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. He said establishment of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was another historic milestone achieved by the region, and credit for which again goes to PDP. Khan expressed the hope that people would not allow forces of exploitation to befool them any more. |
