| Rather asks Karra to resign, Farooq seeks judicial probe | | FM's assertions against VO | | Early Times Reporter Budgam | May 18 Senior National Conference leader and Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather has asked the Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra to step down from the state cabinet if there was any truth in his assertion that state Vigilance Organization was hindering developmental works in Kashmir region. "If the allegations are true they (PDP leaders) have no right to remain in Cabinet and should quit the Ministry", Rather, while referring to the statement by the Minister regarding vigilance organization, said here today. He said that the way in which the Minister has spoken about the religious and regional imbalance in the state, the Minister and his colleague should quit the coalition government as they have no right to remain in Ministry. "If Karra and his other party colleagues do not resign from the Ministry, people will not hesitate to think that the statement is mere election stunt and aimed at to gain vote bank". Department of Vigilance Organization, he said, is directly under control of Chief Minister and the allegation leveled by Tariq Hameed Kara, who is one of the responsible Minister in coalition government, is a direct attack on Azad, who is expected to clear his position over the allegations. Former Finance Minister was addressing a well attended public gathering at Zagipora Chrawani Village in Charar-e-Sharief today. Expressing concern over the recent statements regarding the forceful participation of Kashmiri girls in the cultural programs, Rather said government was ignoring such acts and is acting as a mute spectator. He said the reports of such forceful participation of Kashmiri girls have disturbed the spiritual and common cadre of the masses in Kashmir. He demanded immediate action against the people for encouraging such acts in the state and said government should respect the aspirations of the people of the state and should take immediate steps to stop such activities else it (government) should be ready to face wreath of the people. Rather said that non-governance and political instability of the state was forcing the people, including women, to come on roads. This, he said, indicates the complete failure of the coalition government. Referring to the increasing unemployment in the state, the NC leader said that in spite of tall clams, the educated youth of the state are yet to get employment. "Even numbers of educated youth were indulging in drug addiction and taking to the path of crime in the state of frustration", he added. He asked the people to come openly and expose the government's failure which is again resorting to the hollow slogans to garner votes. |
