| ESPN to telecast UEFA EURO 2008 Live | | | New Delhi | May 19 ESPN STAR Sports, Asia's leading sports' broadcaster, announced that all the matches from the coveted UEFA European Football Championship 2008 will be beamed live & exclusive in India on its ESPN network. In all, 31 matches will be played in UEFA EURO 2008™ starting from June 07, 2008. The sports broadcaster also announced a host of production and marketing initiatives aimed at enhancing this exciting property lined up for soccer enthusiasts around the country. Speaking on the occasion, RC Venkateish, Managing Director, ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd, said, "India today consumes more international soccer than ever before. The reach of Barclays Premier League has been growing at more than 40% per annum since 2005. We expect impressive ratings for UEFA Euro 2008™ as it is one of the most prestigious and recognizable sporting properties in the world. The championship is rated as the second biggest sporting event globally when it comes to TV viewership and we believe that this year television viewership will touch even greater heights." Talking about the strategy for promoting UEFA EURO 2008™, R C Venkateish, added, "We have launched a nation wide marketing campaign, based on the theme – 'Bach Ke Kahan Jaoge'.
