Dept of Budhist studies celebrate Budh Purnima

Department of Buddhist Studies Jammu University today celebrated the 22nd Foundation Day and Buddha Purnima in the Rajinder Singh Auditorium. Dean Academic Affirs, Prof. BPS Sehgal was the chief guest on the occasion while Dean Student Welfare was the guest of honor.
Speaking on the occasion, Sehgal stressed on the main teachings of Buddha, which incorporated non-violence, friendliness universal love and compassion. He assured the Department of Buddhist studies with all possible assistance for its development.
Dr Pathnia on this occasion highlighted the importance of Buddhist studies in the present day crisis of ethics owing to excess materialism, intolerance, hatred.
Head of the Department Prof. B. Labh presented the report of the department in terms of its progress in the research work, lectures, seminars and also the overlooking of its basic needs. He further stressed the need of introduction of Buddhist studies at 10+2 level and graduation level teaching ion colleges.
