Citizens moot goodwill movement

In the backdrop of growing caste and community divide in the country, the same fuelled by politicians to consolidate their vote banks on caste considerations, a movement is sought to be launched to foster unity and goodwill among the communities and caste groups. The move in this regard has been initiated by a prominent social activists, Pawan Shastri, president, Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust, with the blessings of a renowned Sanskrit scholar and religious leader Dwarkanath Shastri and the activists in various fields other than politics.
As per release, largely attended meeting conveyed by Pawan Shastri was held at Moraliyan, in R.S.Pura tehsil, were about hundreds of people belonging to cross sections of the society from Jammu district participated. The prominent among those who attended the meeting include Yash Bashin, Prem Saraf,, Gurdas Sharma, Ld Shastri, Laxman Agarwal, Jialal Verma, NC Sharma,Suman Bhagat, MLA from R.S.Pura and some prominent citizens of R.S.Pura and Bishnaw belonging to cross sections of the society besides some sarpanches and panches from various panchayat halqas in R.S.Pura.
Suman Bhagat hosted preeti bhog to the participants after the meeting. In a four hour lomg interaction, the general consensus that emerged was that before forming some regular platform for spreading the movement of unity among cross sections of the people, the idea in this regard should be broadly floated to start with in various parts of Jammu region, by holding social get together and interactions among prominent members of various communities and caste at village levels.
Pawan Shastri offered to arrange for solemnizing the marriages of daughters of the poor and down-trodden by bearing all the necessary expenses. The need for eradicating social evils prevalent in the society was also stressed upon in the meeting, the release added.
