| Rehmat Ali lifts Batote Kesari title | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 19 Punjab wrester, Rehmat Ali clinched the 3rd Batote Kesari Vishal Dangal organized by Batote Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association at Government Higher Secondary School Batote in district Ramban. It was not an easy task for Rehmat Ali to beat Yashpreet, an equally good wrestler from Punjab (Doomicharri) in the interesting main bout that lasted for 21 minutes. Winner of main bout, Rehmat was given away a cash prize of Rs 4100 jointly by Shiv Kumar Sharma and Rakesh Khajuria, general secretary of the Association. Runners-up, Yashpreet got Ras 3000 as cash prize. Col. Jasbir Singh Mankotia was chief guest in this dangal while Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Station House Officer Batote, B N Manhas was also present. In all, 72 top wrestlers from J&K Delhi, Hayrana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh as also from Border Security Force (BSF) took part in the event. The second main bout between Benia of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Sunny of Jullandhar in Punjab could not be decided even after both the wrestlers had 29 minutes restless fight. Puppa of Chandigarh won the third main bout defeating Pahalwan Qasim Din (Billu) of J&K Police. In other well contested bouts, Onkar Singh of BSF beat Ghulam Ali of Chandigarh; Sukhwant Singh of Amritsar beat Gosha of Chandigarh; Raja of Ajnala held Teg Ali Maller Kotla; Arjun of Jammu held Nishant of Amritsar to draw. Other results: Mulkha of Dinanagar bt Raju of Kapurthala, Sucha of Taran Taran bt Happy of Dera Baba Nanak; Mohd Akram of Jammu bt Bittu of Delhi; Abdul Gani of Maller Kotla bt Disha of Doomcharri; Swarn Singh of Jammu bt Lalli of Ajnala; Kulwant of Amritsar bt Jameet Lal of Jammu; Nazir of Akhnoor bt Naresh of Jammu; Bagh of Amritsar bt Akram of Jammu; Kuldeep Singh of Roun-Domail bt Bitta of Bani Basohli and Mushtaq Ahmed of Bani Basohli bt Tirthu of Manwal. |
