Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Patron National Conference has appealed to the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh to initiate a judicial enquiry headed by a sitting Judge of the Hon'ble Supreme Court or the Hon'ble High Court into the 11th of May incident of Samba in which innocent civilians were killed.
Dr. Abdullah who went to Samba today to participate in the 10th Day Ceremony of Late Shri Hoshiar Singh and his wife Late Smt. Sashi Bala demanded this probe after the citizens of Samba expressed apprehensions that the killing of Hoshiar Singh and his wife was not a stray terrorist killing but a well planned murder by forces imnical to peace who hatched a conspiracy to liquidate Hoshiar Singh- a messiah of peace and brotherhood.
Several deputations who called on Dr. Abdullah during his visit to Samba complained that the police did not investigate the killing in a professional manner and the house of the deceased was not visited to collect the evidence and put it on record which was necessary for investigation into the killing of the couple
In his communiqué to the Prime Minister of India and the National Security Advisor, Dr. Abdullah has also urged that the judicial enquiry should also go into the circumstances leading to the Samba incident.
Dr. Abdullah said this incident should be an eye opener for the state government and the state government should facilitate thorough investigation into the issue so that there was no element of suspicion and the apprehensions of the people are addressed. Dr. Abdullah paid homage to the departed souls and said that Hoshiar Singh was an ambassador of peace and a strong votary of human rights. His loss he said has created a void in Samba which will be difficult to fill.
