| Sarwal Hospital staff, medicos suspend work to protest doctor's suspension | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 20 Medicos and Paramedical staff of Sarwal Hospital today suspended work for three hours to protest the suspension of a doctor by authorities for negligence which led to death of a youth. The youth died allegedly due to negligence of the Surgeon during a surgery yesterday. The death of the youth had evoked strong protest by the relatives of the deceased who allegedly clashed with the staff and ransacked the hospital premises. Government had later suspended the doctor and ordered an inquiry into the matter. Later, today morning doctors and paramedical staff today sit on a dharan in the hospital premises to protest the suspension of their collogue. The sit on continued for three hours during which doctors and Para staff boycotted the work. Addressing the striking staff, speakers strongly condemned the suspension of the doctor by authorities without providing him an opportunity to clear his position. They also condemned the ransacking of the hospital by the protestors and alleged that some politicians who wanted to gain political mileage were behind the attack. Later, the doctors and their junior staff resumed the normal work. |
