6/27/2019 11:43:02 AM

Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday met with the kin of Arshad Khan, SHO Anantnag in Srinagar, who was martyred in a terror attack earlier this month, and offered his condolences to the bereaving family at their residence in Bal Garden in Karan Nagar.

Amit Shah's official twitter handle tweeted: "Visited the home of inspector Arshad Khan, SHO Anantnag in Srinagar, who was martyred in a terror attack & offered my condolences to the bereaved family. His sacrifice for the security of our nation has saved many lives. The entire nation is proud of Arshad Khan‘s valour & courage."
Earlier on June 12, Inspector Arshad Khan had an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag. As soon as he stepped out of his armoured vehicle, a bullet fired by a terrorist ricocheted from his service rifle hitting his liver and duodenum, fatally injuring him. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital and then moved to AIIMS, Delhi where he took his last breath.

Along with Arshad Khan, five other security personnel also lost their lives in the encounter.

Inspector Arshad Khan is survived by his two sons, wife, parents and a brother. His colleagues and senior called his death an immense loss to the Jammu and Kashmir Police force. Heartbreaking pictures of his sons during his funeral ceremony went viral on social media.

Union Minister Amit Shah is currently on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the security situation and development scenario in the state. Reportedly, the BJP leader has directed the state government to ensure that even the poorest of the poor in the state get to be the beneficiary of good governance.
