| `Air Marshal Barbora arrives in J and K on two-day visit | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 21 Air Marshal P K Barbora, Air Officer Commanding- in-Chief, Western Air Command arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on a two-day visit yesterday. Official sources said Air Marshal Barbora, accompanied by his wife Arundhati Barbora, president Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional), was briefed about the overall situation by the officers at Air Force stations. He also visited a number of forward areas in the state. Air Marshal Barbora is scheduled to meet Governor Lt General (retd) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Sources said he addressed the station personnel at various forums Barbora will have meeting with the wives of the Station personnel and will take stock of various welfare activities being run by the Station. Air Marshal Barbora, is a highly decorated and a professionally respected officer. A qualified Flying Instructor, Fighter combat leader with a flying experience of over 3500 hours on fighter class of aircraft, he took part in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. He has had the distinction of being part of the foundation team during formation of the first Jaguar Squadron of the Indian Air Force and also for inducting the Air Combat Simulator into the Indian Air Force, the first of its kind in Asia. He has held various appointments in India and abroad which include the appointment as Air Attaché at the Embassy of India, Moscow. |
