| Reject politics of regional discrimination: BJP | | | Early Times Reporter

Leaders of the state unit of the BJP have appealed to the people that they should oppose all those political parties that have been instrumental in the perpetuation of regional discrimination in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a party convention at Domana today these leaders,including the BJP President Ashok Khajuria,said the Congress,the PDP and the National Conference have proved valley centric with the result they engineered flow of bigger funds to
Kashmir which resulted in the tardy development of the Jammu region.
Khajuria asking people to vote against the Congress,the PDP and the National in the interests of people of the Jammu region.He said it was because of the machinations of these parties that people from the valley have been able to get 70 per cent share in
Government departments and the civil secretariat.
He said when Ghulam Nabi Azad was appointed Chief Minister "we had thought that being from the Jammu region he would end regional discrimination but he too
followed the footsteps of the National Conference and the PDP."
The BJP leaders referred to the allotment of funds for the development of lakes in the state and said that while several hundred crores were being sanctioned for the development of lakes in the Kashmir valley annually even the meagre amount alloted for
upgradation of Mansar and Surinsar lakes in Jammu had not been utilised.
Khajuria said the worst part of discrimination was that those belonging to the valley found jobs in the universities in the Jammu region.The valley based youth got admission in professional colleges and universities in the Jammu region when those from the Jammu region got a poor share of seats and jobs in universities and colleges in the Kashmir valley. Raising his voice he said vote for Congress meant vote in favour of regional discrimination.He said vote for NC and the PDP was vote for state's disintegration. |
