| Prominent NC leader joins PDP | | Only PDP can remove discrimination: Mahajan | |

Prominent National Conference leader Mumtaz Ahmed Bania along with hundreds of his supporters joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a function which was held today at village Grand in Shoya Panchayat of Nagrota constituency.
Vice president of party and MLC Ved Mahajan presided over the function in which local Sarpanch Joginder Singh was also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mumtaz Ahmed said that he has decided to join PDP due to the policies and programmes of the party. He said that it was all due to the efforts of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his party that peace has been prevailed, to large extent, in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mumtaz assured the PDP leadership that he will work with dedication to spread message of the party in different areas of Nagrota constituency.
Addressing the function, Ved Mahajan said that Jammu and Kashmir has been passing through a crucial phase and it was high time to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti to change fate of the people of this State.
Pointing towards achievements of the first three years o the coalition regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mahajan said that Sayeed as Chief Minister of the State had taken many radical steps for the development of the State. He said that first time in the history that equal distributions of funds were made for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that Mufti Sayeed has set an example of good governance.
Urging the people to strengthen PDP, Mahajan said that only this party can provide justice with all regions and sub-regions of the State. "Previous regimes of National Conference discriminated with many regions and sub-regions and it was all due to the visionary thinking of Sayeed that these discriminations were removed.
Welcoming Mumtaz in PDP, Mahajan hoped that his joining would strengthen the party in Nagrota assembly constituency in particular and Jammu region in general. Mahajan also announced Rs 2 lakh from his CDF for construction of road from Shoya to Clay. Milki Ram and Mohammed Hussain also addressed the function.
