| No ban on export of vegetables from J&K: Zargar | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 21
There is no ban on fresh vegetable export from Jammu and Kashmir State to other states of country. This was disclosed in meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Abdul Aziz Zargar here today. Meeting was among others attended by Principal Secretary Agricultural production department Sonali Kumar and both Directors of Agriculture Department Jammu and Kashmir Manzoor Ahmad Shah and Mrs. Vinod Bala Sharma. While reviewing the production of fresh vegetables during current Kharif season in the temperate and sub-tropical areas of the state, it was disclosed that the surplus fresh vegetables produced by the farmers can be exported to the other parts of the country as there is no ban from government side for its export. There is tremendous demand from the other parts of the country for “Off season Vegetables”, for European and Asian tic type of vegetables. For the reason this is the only period when the surplus produce of vegetables grown by the farmers of the state fetch remunerative prices in the terminal markets. All the Government agencies related with this activity have been informed of the discussion taken in this high level meeting.
