| Punjab National Bank introduces NEFT facility | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 21
Punjab National Bank today introduced a system of instant transfer of inter bank and inter-city funds to different banks through national electronic fund transfer mode known as NEFT using RBI NEFT server at Mumbai. As per a release, the system will save a lot of time for traders, students, armed forces and public in general as no drafts are required to be purchased and sent to beneficiary through postal channel. Dr. B M Padha chief IT operational desk at PNB zonal office Jammu informed that the NEFT system is fastest, safest, most secured and quite cheap as the commission for inter bank fund transfer is far less than what is usually paid by public for purchase of a bank draft. He further added that for individuals, local fund transfer from one bank to other bank in the same city is absolutely free. He made a fervent request to public in general to the use of NEFT channel and dispense with the traditional method of purchasing bank drafts and sending them by post involving transportation risk of the instrument. At the receiving bank, the beneficiary can instantly utilize the funds sent through NEFT he added. Dr. B M Padha also informed that the bank shall also be launching month long awareness campaign through seminars and costumer meetings in the entire state to make NEFT known to public in general. Elaborating further Dr. B M Padha said that RTGS and ECS systems are already being put to use by the bank branches in the state, the release added.
