| Congress protest against Congress bulldozers show up in Last Morh | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 21 On the day when top Congress leaders discussed ways and means of internal coordination and organizational synergy, many of them effected by a government decision raised banner of revolt against the party leadership. It was a bizarre incident when local Congress activists were seen in tandem with a PDP MLA raising slogans against the Chief Minister and the government in Last Morh area of Gandhi Nagar when Municipality bulldozers showed up to raze down some allegedly illegally constructed buildings. While the local Congress activists came in support of their neighbours many of them had their own buildings caught up in the action plan. Congress MLA from Gandhi Nagar Raman Bhalla was seen caught on the wrong foot. He had to stand with the local people even though he maintained that action was being taken in follow up to a High Court order. Earlier, tension gripped last Morh area of posh Gandhi Nagar locality after residents of the area clashed with a Jammu Municipal Corporation team who had come to execute the high court orders directing demolition of over seventy houses constructed over irrigation department's piece of land. Peoples Democratic Party MLA Shanti Devi who also owns a house in the locality described the action as a congress conspiracy against her. The demolition team which had come with a bulldozer razed down a portion of Shanti Devi's House. However, before it could proceed further the people of the area laid down in front of the Buldozer to stop it from going ahead with demolition. When the police tried to intervene the residents turned violent and threw stones on the demolition creating a Law and Order situation. |
