Suspense continues over the timing of the release of the document on self-rule by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).The document has been finalized several months ago and even after it was okayed by the senior functionaries of the PDP it has not been so far released.
Party sources indicate that the document on self-rule as as effective as the nuke weapon and it will be released at an appropriate time.”There is no hurry in releasing the document. The PDP leadership has been explaining the main contours of the idea to people, during the ongoing pre-poll campaign, and we feel satisfied with the response of the peop;le,”said a senior PDP leader.
The General secretary PDP,Nizam-ud-Din Bhat today said “yes the document is ready. We will choose our time to release it in black and white.”He explained that the document on self-rule was not like a white paper which had to be released on a scheduled time.He added that the self-rule idea was part of the political agenda of the PDP.”Its purpose was not only to strengthen the ongoing dialogue between Delhi and Islamabad but also help the two sides in reducing tension in the subcontinent and in finding a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir,”he said
Bhat made it clear that the document also had a chapter on economic emanicipation of people belonging to all the three regions of the state. In reply to a question he said that the PDP’s self-rule idea was different from the autonomy slogan of the National Conference adding that there was no economic component in the autonomy resolution adopted by the National Conference.
