| ‘Cong will emerge as largest party in J&K’: Soz | | Bhagat Chajju Ram remembered | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 22 Saying that in democracy power lies with the people, the President J&K PCC and Union Minister for Water Resources Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz asserted that Congress has the strength and capability to emerge as largest party in the elections in the state. He was addressing a function at Maralian in RS Pora organized today to pay homage to veteran Congress leader and former minister Bhagat Chajju Ram . Paying tributes to Chajju Ram, the PCC Chief described the late leader as a ‘symbol of simplicity and honesty’, who served the poor people with utmost sincerity throughout his life. Stressing upon the value based politics, Prof Soz said the general masses expect the leaders as role model for the society adding that ‘for him politics is another name of service to the society’. ‘AICC President Sonia Gandhi is a symbol of sacrifices and value based politician in the country’, he said and added that no other political party has such a leadership. PCC Chief said that people have the biggest power of vote in the democracy and they should believe in the politics of ballot adding that the politicians should imbibe good principles so that people’s trust in them is not shaken. Looking at the achievements of the Congress led governments both at the state and the centre, Prof Soz expressed his optimism that Congress party would emerge as a single largest party in the state after the elections this year. The congressmen must unite and pool their strength to spread the programmes and policies of the party as also the achievements of the government, he added. While referring to his Ministry, the Union Minister said Rs.300 crore has been released for repairs of canals in Jammu region during last year and adding a major project for Ujh river and Kandi canal has already been sanctioned. Among others who paid tributes to late Chajju Ram included Suman Bhagat, MLA, Dharam Pal Sharma senior PCC vice president, Madan Lal Sharma, MP, R S Chib, MLA, Hari Singh, Arvinder Singh, Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Vinod Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Gurmukh Singh, Maheshwar Singh, Raval Mattoo, Rajinder Singh, Narider Gupta, Manjit Singh and Ganesh Dutt. |
