| Sindhu festival from June 12 | | | Early Times Reporter

The Sindhu festival 2008 would be celebrated in Leh for three days starting from June 12. This was stated at a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, Leh M.K.Bhandari.as per a release, the meeting was attended by heads of various communities constituted to organize the programmes and making of arrangements. The meeting gave focus on giving more attention on publicity about the Sindhu Darshan celebration in print and electronic media so that more and more tourists witness the festival. The meeting decided to organize double4 humped camel safari, yak ride,archery, thanka exhibition, horse polo, Ladakhi traditional dances etc.
The deputy commissioner urged over the comities to work from right now in making the festival benefiting so that it would attract more and more tourists. Dr. Bhandari said that the locals should also come forward in making the festival festive and should not rely upon the government funds and directives alone. He directed that local food stalls should also be exhibited for the promotion of local food to the tourists. He urged upon the committee members for best utilization of the limited fund to present qualitive programme, the release added. |
