Farmers demand compensation for damaged crops

Gool, Aug 30: The farmers of Gool Gulab garh have demanded immediate compensation for the damages caused to the standing crops due to recent heavy rains and hail storm.
A group of farmers from different areas of Gool-Gulabgarh told News Agency of Kashmir that entire crop both paddy and maize got fully damaged due to rains and the farmers of the area should be given compensation.
“Heavy rains damage standing paddy and maize crops of the area” said shabaaz Hussian adding that no estimation was done by the department of horticulture so far.
The orchards of the area have also suffered extensive damage due to the hailstorm and most of villages were reported to have been affected by it.
“Earlier last year the orchards of the area were also damaged due to heavy snow fall and the farmers are yet to get any compensation for damages” said one of the resident Dam Kund village adding even the compensation was sanctioned by the government.
