Girls eclipse boys in matriculation exams

Girls virtually eclipsed the boys in secondary school examinations, the results of which were declared here today by the State Board of School Examinations. Girls bagged as many as 100 top slots in the merit-list leaving just 62 positions for the boys. A total of 20 positions were shared by 162 students for the first time in State board results.
Several new educational institutions from Jammu, Udhampur, Ramnagar and Akhnoor registered their presence in the position list.
Nehru Memorial HSS Udhampur student Nitika Mahajan and Vivudh Gupta of MHS DAV Public School Udhampur topped the merit list securing 489 marks out of a total of 500 (97.80 per cent). They were closely followed by Vipual Bandral of Trikuta Public HSS Katra, Sourabh Sharma of Brahim Rishi BSVP HSS Udhampur and Vipul Kumar who shared second position taking 487 marks. Sheetal Angaral student of Little Flower Public School Greater Kailash, Supreeti Mahajan of RSJN HSS Kathua and Paris Mahajan of Brahmin Rishi BSVP HSS Udhampur romped home with third position taking 486 marks.
Fourth position was shared by Saksham Narainia of Little flower HSS Greater Kailash , Anshu Mahajan of Dream Land Public School , Urvashi Sharma of Fatima Convent Higher Secondary Bishnah and Shivani Mahajan of RSJN HSS Kathua clinching (485 marks) respectively.
While fifth position went to Meeenkashi Bhat( Dream Lanad Public School, Jammu) Supriya Sharma ( SD Memorial KSS Karwanda) , Priyanka Sharma ( National Academy HS Udhampur), Akshay Kumar ( Brahm Rishi Udhampur), Surbhi Sharma (Calvary Mission Samba) and Manish Salathia (Kristu Jyoti Convent School Samba) by securing 484 marks..
Sixth position was shared by Neha Jamwal (St Peters HS BC Road Jammu) and Amandeep Sadhotra (Fatima Convent HS Bishnah). Both had 483 marks.
Shivangi Mahajan (Montessari Nargis Public School RS Pura), Sahil Gupta (Spring Dales School Kathua), Pritpal Kour (National Academy Udhmapur) and Tarun Thappa ( Brahm Rishi BSVP Udhampur) and shared seventh positions taking 482 marks.
Eighth position was shared by four students—Avleen Kour (Carmel Convent School Kunjwani), PratiGya Suri (Dream Land Public School) , Shubham Gupta( National Academy Udhampur) and Rohit Koul ( Brahm Rishi Udhampur) securing 481 marks.
Priyanka Parihar ( SSM Jammu Pub HSS Patoli), Shivindu Charak( Fatima Convent Bishnah) , Pooja Mandelia( RSJN HSS Kathua ) Sukrita Sharma( Christ HS Nowshera) , Apurva Sharma ( Nehru Memorial HSS Udhampur) , Kanav Kumar (Brahm Rishi Udhampur) and Evani Mahajan (Kristu Jyoti Convent School Samba) shared 9th position by taking 480 marks respectively.
10th Position was shared by 11 students which include Sukhdeep Kour (Guru Gobind Singh school Kunjwani), Yashasahhavani dass (St Peter Hs BC Road), Najam Un Nissa ( St Peter HS Bc Road), Neha Salathaia (DBN), Vikesh Kumar (SM Shishu Niketan ), Supinder Sudan (Montessori Nargis Pub School), Sunali Sharma (RSJN Kathua) Benazi yousouf (Christ School), Nancy Sharma (Govt HSS Sundarbani) and Sakshi Sharma (Happy Model Udhampur) by securing 479 marks.
