BJP DEMANDS FIV EMORE DISTRICTS IN JAMMU REGION TO BRIDGE REGIONAL DIVIDE

Jammu,July 07 Criticising the decision of the Congress lead coalition government to carve out equal number of districts in Jammu and Kashmir region,state Unit of the Bhartiya Janta Party on Friday demanded creation of atleast five more districts in Jammu region to bridge the gap between the two regions in the state.

Addressing a press conference here in the party headquarters State BJP President Dr Nirmal Singh and Vice President Prof Hari Om blamed Congress of playing vote bank politics and not fulfilling aspirations of the people of Jammu region.

Both the leadres demanded that in order to dispel notions of regional imbalance within the two regions in the state the chief minister should announce formation of five more districts through an administrative order at the earliest.

The BJP leaders said since no criteria was fixed by the coalition government while carving out three additional districts in Kashmir we demand atleast five more districts should be carved out in Jammu on similar lines.The BJP leaders said existing Jammu district should be bifurcated in to two districts besides, Basoli,Akhnoor and Nowshera should be made district headquarters to fulfill aspiration sof people of Jammu region.

Warning Chief Minister, Dr Singh said if the congress chief minister would fail to do so BJP would launch state vide agitation to expose their designs.

Trainin his guns on Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Dr Nirmal Singh said that Chief Ministers' claim that he has created eight more districts based on the needs of people was nothing but an eye wash.
He said for the last thirty years people in Jammu region were struggling hard to take their share but the real beneficaries were the people of Kashmir.

Levelling serious allegations against state governments intent behind setting up fresh delimitation commission with a mandate to increase 25 per cent assembly seats in the three regions in the state, Prof Hari Om said chief minister has been playing dictatorial role in the present circumstances.He said Chief Minister was exhibiting his dictatorial tendencies when he announced that delimitation commission would look in to increasing 25 per cent assembly seats in the state.
