| Congress comes in open, side NC chief against PDP | | | Srinagar, Aug 30 : Congress today came in open to express its loyality to National Conference when it saved its chief Omar Abdullah from the wrath of peoples Democratic Party workers at the foundation laying function of Hajj Complex in Bemina Srinagar. Informed Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that Omer Abdullah who was among the invitees at the foundation laying function of the Hajj complex which is coming up on out skirts of Srinagar The chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad laid the foundation stone for the prestigious project which was followed by addresses by the mini9sters and political invitees. The function was conducted peacefully till the turn of NC chief Omar Abdullah, Sources said adding that as he came to dice about one and a half dozen persons said to be the PDP workers stood up and starting raising slogans against him surprising every one present on the occasion. However, soon a group of congress workers, sources said came to Omar Abdullah rescue and started raising slogans in his favour to counter the PDP workers which distributed the function proceedings for a while. PCC chief Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, however, saved the situation by asking congress workers to resume their seats. Omar Abdullah, Sources said, found himself in an embracing situation alleged that the group of people opposing him belong to the land Mafia patronized by a particular party and wanted to grab this peace of land. Omar welcomed chief Minister for acquiring the land for construction of Hajj complex to fulfill long pending demand of the people. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on his turn also condemned the attitude of the group describing their act as unfortunate. |
