| BJP for Central University status to JU | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 23 BJP State President Ashok Khajuria today once again reiterated the demand that the University of Jammu must be granted the status of Central University as it legitimately deserves it. He said it is disgusting that the Union government has, at the behest of the state Chief Minister and his Kashmir-centric colleagues, ignored the claims of the people of Jammu and decided to set up a Central University in Kashmir Province. Khajuria said that BJP represents the state and not just Jammu province and hence it wants to make it loud and clear that it does not mind getting Kashmir a Central University but would not tolerate any attempt on the part of the authorities to deal shabbily with Jammu, which the Kashmir-centric authorities have already been reduced to a Kashmir’s colony and deliberately ignored Jammu in all walks of life. He said the people of Jammu province will not be satisfied with such crumbs as Indian Institute of Management (IIM), which will be set up somewhere in the Kot Bhalwal area. He said that it is this policy which has made sections of society to demand separation from Kashmir. BJP President said that the need of the time is to treat Kashmir and Jammu equally so that there is no inter-regional bitterness and animosity and asserted that the grant of Central University status to the University of Jammu could be a starting point leading to harmonious inter-regional relations. |
