To nab unscrupulous persons importing goods through unauthorized kaccha routes bypassing check post Lakhanpur to evade taxes, the sleuths of Commercial Taxes Check Post Lakhanpur, under the personal supervision of DC Commercial, Inderjit Singh, laid nakas as several places.
The team led by Commercial Taxes Officer Rajneesh Gupta intercepted a truck bearing registration No JK02X-1439 at Kherkra road near Mandi Madkrana. On search, the truck was found loaded with 320 bags of Ambuja brand cement owned by Balram Singh without documents. Despite stiff resistance by the offenders, the truck was brought to the check post. The said vehicle had clandestinely entered into the state via Punjab through minor route Mandi Madekrana in connivance with unscrupulous elements and tried to evade payment of taxes .Cement worth Rs.80,000 along with vehicle was seized under different sections of VAT Act and a penalty and security amounting to Rs. one lakh was imposed on the offender/vehicle. |
