In a run up to the ensuing Assembly election in the state, Praja Parishad (PP) has started selecting candidates for seeking elections. The party has decided to field its candidates for all the 37 constituencies in Jammu region.
The party, as per its strategy, has selected two candidates for each constituency. They include Sunil Raka son of Sohan Lal, founder General Secretary of Praja Parishad from Nagrota constituency and Arun Rajwal, General Secretary of State Mahasha Saddar Sabha from Domana Constituency.
These names were made to public at a press conference addressed by Chander Mohan Sharma, President of the Praja Parishad here today.
He said the Praja Parishad’s election committee headed by Madan Lal Gupta, party’s vice president, has cleared the names of the party candidates for Nagrota and Doman Assembly constituencies adding that the process of selecting candidates for all the 37 seats in Jammu province was going on.
Meanwhile, Lok Jan Shakti Party’s senior leader, Saudhagar Mal joined the Praja Parishad along with his 200 supporters.
Party President welcoming the new entrants said that the party will be enriched by the talent of newly joining leaders. He said he will be assigning them appropriate responsibilities.
Earlier, Sharma paid tribute to Ashok Sodhi, press photographer who was killed in militant attack on May 11.
He demanded that the government should provide insurance or social security cover to all bonafide journalists in Jammu and Kashmir and also provide bullet proof kits to the journalists who cover the violence incidents.
