| UKF decries PDP for raking up controversies over Amarnath pilgrimage | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 25 Decrying Peoples Democratic Party for raking up controversies over the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnathji, United Kashmiriayat Forum has said that pilgrimage poses no threat of any sort to the ecology of place and some political forces of the state are dead bent to politicize the issue for their personal gains. In a press statement issued here on Sunday, President UKF Bharat Raina said that the Shrine Board (SASB) has taken all the precautions to preserve the ecology of the area but it were some political forces of the state who try to gain political mileage by raking up the issue time and again. He further said that the workers of his party visited both the base camps at Pahalgam and Baltal and observed that every precaution was taken to preserve the ecology of the area. He said that the concerned board has taken all the measures to maintain health and hygiene in the camping sites and enroute the Cave Shrine. Expressing his grave concern over the recent statements by some political forces of the state, Raina said that the hotels and the restaurants at Pahalgam and its periphery not only pose a great threat to the environment but also pollutes the perennial water source of the area. " Hotels and restaurants of area have been damaging the ecology with impunity and every sort of impediment is being made in the annual pilgrimage of Swmi Amarnath," he added. He added that the people of place have generally been appreciative of the steps being taken to regulate the yatra with emphasis on the preservation of environment. |
