Early Times Report

Jammu, July 21: Natrang today presented Saadat Hasan Manto's play 'Juzm Aur Saza' directed by Neeraj Kant at Natrang Studio Theatre in its Sunday Theatre Series.
At the beginning of the play 'Jurm aur Saza' one 'Kamla' is shown weeping continuously in front of 'Shanker', they both are sad and shocked as 'Kamla' narrates the incident when her modesty was outraged by 'Kundan' in whose house she works as a domestic help. He fraudulently calls her to his room in the pretext of helping her and when she reached there he overpowered her. On listening to this, 'Shanker' gets mad in anger as at the heart, he loves her, he decides to avenge this crime.
He reached at the room of 'Kundan' while he was asleep and threatens him by showing knife, he makes him confess his crime and forced him to write a suicide note after which he poisons him and the whole murder looked like a suicide. Everyone agrees that 'Kundan' has committed suicide as he was remorseful of some sin which he had committed, even police closed the case considering it a suicide. But 'Shanker' deliberately gives a lead that it may not be suicide. He even admits his crime in front of Kamla, to which she was shocked and tells him that a crime can never eliminate another. Even if 'Kundan' deserved to be punished but not like this. This jolted Shanker's consciousness and he confesses his crime in front of police and embraces the punishment open heartedly. The play in a very impactful manner, highlighted the value of consciousness and sincerity to the soul. Natrang actors who performed in the play included Shivam Singh, Kananpreet Kaur, Aakash Wadhwan, Udit Sagar, Mohit Sharma and Sushant Singh Charak. The lights of the play were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant Sharma and the sound was rendered by Sushant Singh Charak. The presentations were done by Aarti Devi and the show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen.
