7/22/2019 12:00:24 AM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 21: Hitting out at Dharmarth Trust for not cooperating with Tourism Department which is ready to spend Rs 2 crore on laser show at Shri Raghunath Temple and to develop it on the pattern of Shri Golden Temple, the Shri Raghunath Mandir Sewa Smiti (SRMSS) today alleged that rude behaviour of trust management and their money looting approach has made visiting pilgrims disappointed at this holy place. Smiti alleged that due to mismanagement and adamant attitude of the Trust it has already bear big financial setback when sole trustee rejected the offer of yearly grant -in-aid of Rs about 50 lakh by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at the time of takeover of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in 1986 for development of about 115 temples under Dharmarth Trust. Today the aid would have been in crores and can be utilized for providing better facilities to devotees and development of temples. "The famous Raghunath temple of Jammu has been a favourite place for tourists and pilgrims visiting Jammu and especially those coming for Darshan of the Holy Shrines of Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath but pilgrims coming from other states to this temple are being exploited in this temple by some vested interests trained in a special way to extort money from people and to humiliate the people who are not capable of donating high donation amounts," Smiti leader told reporters today. Addressing a press conference here today, Rajiv Mahajan President and Thakur Karanail Chand General Secretary of the Smiti alleged that trust management has given the temple on bid system to some close persons of the trustee who trained to extract maximum amount of money from devotees by asking them to pay the money in name of various prayers. "Behavior of management of this temple leaves a very negative image of Jammu and its people. People of Jammu are so nice, but after visiting this temple pilgrims feel looted and disappointed," they said.
