Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 25 Taking the lead in appreciarting the feat of Ram Singh, Tawi Trekkers, J&K announced a cash award of Rs one lakh. Ram Singh climbed the Mount Everest on May 22. In a statement issued here today, Tawi Trekkers general secretary, Ram Khajuria said, “ Tawi Trekkers, J&K shall present an award of Rs one lakh to its illustrious member Ram Singh Slathia who has brought laurels to the club, the J&K Police and above all the Jammu and Kashmir State by scaling the Mount Everest, the highest peak on the earth on May 22.” Tawi Trekkers took the decision in a special meeting of the Club held here today. It was also decided to appeal to the government that Ram Singh may be given an out of turn promotion as an Inspector, the reason being his feat is equal to an Olympic gold medal. Earlier, the members of Tawi Trekkers, including president, Sumant Singh visited Ram Singh’s home at Gurah Salathia to felicitate his parents and other family members there. They included Dr C K Khajuria, Dr Sham Magotra, O P Padha, Varinder Magotra, Narinder Singh, Amit Khajuria, Rahul Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Rajinder Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma and Sumit Khajuria. At Ram Singh’s home at Gurah Slathia, there was an atmosphere of joy, ecstasy and satisfaction as the family had just received the call from Ram Singh, who had by then reached the Everest base camp, informed Ram Khajuria adding that there was an unending streams of visitors including the media at Ram Singh’s home. |
