Are 270 militants ready to derail peace in Kashmir?
7/22/2019 11:21:48 PM
If the Police Chief says that 270 militants are active in Jammu and Kashmir, how could he say that the situation had improved? Even a small group of militants could create added problem for the security forces that is what is happening in parts of South Kashmir. Around 270 militants are active in Kashmir, however, the numbers were declining and the situation has witnessed positive increase in the valley, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has said. He is right when he said that the number of militants were declining but according to the Army functionaries there could be 300 militants in Kashmir and they have been creating added problem for the secure. This is despite the relentless anti-militancy operations during which nearly 125 local as well and foreign militants were killed in past six months in the valley.
"About 270 militants are active in Kashmir. This year so far, 57 youth went missing from their homes and later joined militancy). Of them 23 were killed in encounters while 16 others returned to mainstream," Dilbag told Rising Kashmir in an interview.
The state police chief said the number of active militants was less this year compared to few years ago when 300 militants were active in Kashmir.
He said the trend of self-radicalisation among youth towards ISIS ideology has come down but had not ended.
"We pray that youth think wisely and don't walk towards this path of destruction. Such decisions by youth are immature," he said
Pakistan Army do resort to ceasefire violations simply to push groups of militants simply into Kashmir and report reveal that during the last one year about 150 were pushed into Kashmir and still the police Chief says the situation has become positive. And if the rate of elimination of security forces, including the police has been nations' vital loss and the security forces have to initiate measures to weaken the militants who have hidden in secured hideouts.. And if the youth in Kashmir accept militancy out of love for Azadi one may await derailment of peace in Kashmir.
