MCH Paramedical staff demands security cover, immediate shifting of hospital
7/23/2019 12:14:26 AM

Early Times Report

Anantnag, July 22: Doctors and Paramedical medical staff of Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag on Monday observed half-day strike against the alleged manhandling of nursing staff.
The staff also demanded proper security cover and immediate shifting of the hospital.
"Yesterday's incident of manhandling has shocked us all and now we are feeling insecure in our own hospital," MCH employees told Early Times.
They claimed that space shortage was the primary reason behind the recent deaths. "24 beds have been adjusted in a room that has only capacity of just 10 beds. Bed to bed distance is well less and even the hospital corridors have been converted into wards," they said. Employees said that the government must immediately shift the hospital to its new proposed location (Rehmat-e-Alam hospital)
Later Chief Medical Officer Anantnag and Medical Superintendent Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag pacified the employees and made them to resume normal work.
The employees have submitted a memorandum to Principal Medical College Anantnag and sought security cover.
Medical Superintendent Anantnag requested people to stop attacking staff and damaging hospital. "we have already constituted committee to probe the recent two deaths. I would like to request people not to damage the hospital" he said, adding the hospital needs to shifted immediately.
Official sources told ET that work on the new building Rehmat-e-Alam complex has been halted after the Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar sought safety report of the already constructed part of the building.
Rehmat-e-Alam hospital complex is proposed to be a 4-floor structure. Ground floor and First floor have been constructed by the Trust itself while as Half of the 2nd floor was constructed by J&K housing board. 2nd and 3rd floor have been raised by JKPCC and against the cost of RS 12.10 cr, govt has released only Rs 3.21 Cr.
