Refresher course in Life Sciences begins at JU

Jammu, July 23: In its endeavour for capacity building of human resource at College and University level, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu in collaboration with Department of Botany, University of Jammu started a UGC approved 2 week Refresher Course in Life Science.
In the inaugural function of the course Prof. Rajni Dingra, Dean Research Studies, JU who was the chief guest of the event appreciated the role of the stream of life sciences in making the human life very comfortable. She also stressed upon the requirement of recent updates in current scenario of progress in science.
Prof. A. K. Koul - one of the founding members of the Department of Life Sciences in University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour of the function. While delivering his inaugural lecture, he put emphasis on the current requirements of the classroom teaching so that the mismatch in the education system and need of the employment industry can be avoided in future. His address revolved around the current demands of human society on the planet. Before this, Prof. Namrata Sharma, welcomed all the participants of the refresher course and Prof. Rahul Gupta, Director UGC-HRDC, JU introduced the course curriculum to the 35 participants out of which 12 are from outside the J&K state. In the concluding remarks of the inaugural function, Mr. Ranjit Kalra, teaching Faculty, UGC-HRDC, JU extended vote of thanks. Proceedings of the event were organized by Dr. Skarma Nonzom.
Others who were present during the event included Prof. R. N Gohil, Prof. Anima Langer, Prof. Geeta Sumbali, Prof. Y.P. Sharma, Prof. Seema Langer, Prof Veenu Kaul and Dr. Sikander Pal.
