| Mir working hard to earn good grades in poll exam | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 27 Jammu Kashmir Democratic Party, headed by Ghulam Hassan Mir MLA and a former Minister, is engaged these days in membership drive in the Kashmir valley. He said that the membership drive was launched from Srinagar today and within one month the entire state will be covered. In reply to a question Mir said that he would be visiting Jammu within next three days to strengthen the party unit in the state’s winter capital.He is scheduled to hold a convention of his party workers and supporters in Jammu.He said his units were functioning in some districts in the Jammu region and wherever the units had not been yet set up he would meet prominent citizens and political activists of those areas who would help him in constituting the party units. He said his mission was to bring about economic emancipation of not only the state but of its people.Explaining it he said during his recent meeting with Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh,he had requested him to assist the state in utilizing its internal resources,including hydel potential for power generation and in exploitation of mineral and forest wealth.He said once “we are able to do it the state Government would be spared of approaching the centre with a begging bowl.” Mir said another mission was to fight against family rule in the PDP and the National Conference.He said it was the family rule in the PDP that prevented it from becoming an alternative to the National Conference. |
