| JK gujjars threaten stir | | To stop rail traffic, block supply of milk,vegetables | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 27 Pledging their support to the genuine cause of Gujjars in Rajasthan gujjar community in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday extended them full support and announced that they too would stop rail traffic on Jammu-Delhi route t to put pressure on the centre and state government to grant ST status to Gujjars in Rajasthan. Addressing a media conference here in Jammu the Gujjar leaders said they are ready to start agitation in the state to support the cause of granting ST status to their fellow brothers in Rajasthan. They also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister of Rajasthan and urged for immediate dismissal and imposition of Presidential rule in the state. The Gujjar leaders said , “If Gujjars of J&K and Himachal can get the tribal Status way back in nineties why the Rajasthani Gujjars were deprived They said we are "one" race, one tribe having same socio-economic ,cultural background so treat us as equivalent. the leaders of the community said that there is no course but to join the ongoing agitation launched by the Gujjars of Rajasthan for their just reasonable and genuine cause of granting tribal status to them. "We have decided to join "Rail Roko Andholan" and are going to stop Rail Traffic between Delhi-Jammu track from tomorrow, said State President of the Jammu and Kashmir Gujjars United Front, a political organization working for the betterment of Gujjars in the state, Mohd. Anwar Chaudhary, adding that we are also thinking on the idea to stop milk, mutton, vegetables and other commodities supplied by the Gujjars in the State to motivate the Central Govt. to intervene in the matter of granting Scheduled Tribe status in favour of Rajasthani Gujjars. Lashing out at Rajasthan government for the police firing on agitating Gujjars, the GUF State Secretary Shah Mohammd Advocate on Tuesday asked the Vasundhara Raje administration to end "repression" against the protesters and talk to them for an amicable settlement. The Front leader squarely blamed the State government for the current situation, saying it was "solely responsible for the present killings" in the state. He added that " We the J&K Gujjars strongly condemns the brutal police firings" over the last two days in which 37 people were killed and over 100 injured in Rajasthan.adding that Raje government "which has earned notoriety in police firings, is solely responsible for the present killings, The leaders said government should "immediately stop police repression" and talk to the leaders of the agitation for arriving at an amicable settlement. The Front leader which include BSP's State General Secretary, Hussain Ali and Dr. Gafoor, Ch. Noor Alam expressed their whole hearted and complete support and solidarity with their brothers of Rajasthan. They said that they will march towards Rajasthan to register their protest against Vasundhra Raje, Chief Minister of Rajasthan. |
