| ‘Fast track’ slogan to claim credit ahead of polls: Bhat | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 27 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) general secretary and MLC Nizam-u-Din Bhat today said that deliberate attempt of legislatures to indulge in direct interference to claim credit of fast track development project is sure to make political workers causality. He said that fast track development may or may not benefit people but the legislatures are hell-bent on to claim credit ahead of polls. Stating that the project lacks ground level planning in a way turning it into a populist project subservient to political expediencies Bhat observed that there is an apprehension that if the administration and the executing agency of this project are not given a free hand for adequate planning and choice of works, most of money being spent is bound to get squandered. The PDP general secretary remarked that government should take a note of confusion prevailing on ground due to hype more created by political workers for their ends which has politicized the whole project. In order to achieve the objectives of this project, Bhat said that the need of the hour is to frame a state level committee which will determine the priority areas on which money needs to be spent and the committee on constituency level which will formulate a plan and will also independently monitor the execution of works ensuring that there is no political bossism that has hitherto been guiding the project at the peril of the basic objectives of the development. |
