Led by Distt BJP president Rajesh Gupta, thousands of party activists today took out a torch rally from Premnath Dogra Chowk which after crossing Tawi bridge reached Vikram Chowk, Ware House and finally culminated outside Press Club. The party activists were raising slogans against Congress-led UPA and state government for their failure to control the price rise.
BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, while addressing the protest demonstrators, said that the Congress-led UPA at the centre and Congress-led coalition in the state have completed four and five years respectively and this period will be remembered as black period in the history as there has been manifold increase in the prices of essential items as a result of which a common Indian is finding it difficult to survive. He said that while the prices are sky-rocketing, there are no jobs for the youth, who, if get employment, can be helpful in supporting the family budgets. The Union government has adopted soft approach towards those who are threatening the unity and integrity of the country. Complete freedom has been granted to those who advocate joint management, dual currency, self-rule, autonomy and what not. The BJP chief said that the congress will have to pay heavy price like one it had to pay in Karnataka for its anti-people, anti-poor and anti-youth policies.
Member National Executive & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh, on this occasion, said that a glance at the performance of the state government will show that there is great resentment among the masses against it. It is the height that the employees are not getting salaries for months together, those engaged as daily wagers and on adhoc basis are struggling hard for their regularisation, but no one cares. He said it is sure that the people will teach the Congress a lesson in the next elections for betraying them.
