| Security forces kill top LeT militant, his militant wife in Doda | | | Early Times Reporter

In a joint operation security forces claimed to have killed one of the close associates of Kulhand massacre mastermind and his wife in a fierce gun battle in Gundna area of Doda district on Wednesday.
According to Ministry of defecne spokesperson Lt-ColSD Goswami," joint team 8 RR and Jammu and Kashmir police today launched a operation after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of LeT militant in a house in Khandipura area in which a listed woman militant was killed along with divisional commander of LeT.
Lt Col Goswami said the fierce gunfight erupted after the cordon was tightened in and around the house where the militants were hiding.
The slain ultras have been identified as divisional commander of Lashker-e-Toiba Shabir Ahmed alias AbuYashir and his wife Shamrina Bano.Bano was a wanted militant.Shabir was active inthe area since 1995.
The slain ultra is believed to be one of the key associates of Kulhand massacre mastermind Ashraf Ganie,a divisional commander of LeT who was earlier gunned down in December 2006 . |
