| New relief policy on anvil for victims of militancy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 28 The Jammu and Kashmir government has formulated a new policy for relief and rehabilitation of victims of militancy in the state, according to official sources. "The new policy, which has been sent to the Centre for approval, proposes to provide Rs 5 lakhs in cash as compensation instead of providing government jobs to the kin of the victims," the sources said. "We are awaiting Centre's approval for its implementation in the state and to clear all pending cases," they added. According to the existing policy -- SRO 43 -- the family of the victim gets monetary compensation of Rs one lakh and the government provides a job to the next kin. |
