| SP expresses solidarity with striking gujjars | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 28 The state union of Samajwadi Party (SP) in a resolution passed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of its general secretary Ram Prakash Sharma expressed solidarity with striking gujjars of Rajasthan, who are demanding schedule tribe(ST) status. The meeting while expressing its concern that chief minister Vashundra Raje Scindia, due to her rigid attitude cannot escape the responsibility of the present surcharged atmosphere and loss to life and property in the state, but by recommending to prime minister for grant of ST status plus 4 to 6% reservation to gujjars in the government services, the ball has been put in the central government courtyard. The meeting accordingly through a resolution has urged upon the prime minister , Manmohan Singh to take early decision in this behalf. Prominent among other who were present in the meeting were D.K.Singh, Ram Singh Chauhan, Sham Lal Mahasha, Suram Chand, Iqbal Singh, Pritam Gupta and Harminder Singh. |
