Amarnath Yatri Bhawan to be made operational by June 10: CS

Shri Amarnath Yatri Bhawan at Jammu will be made operational by June 10 this year for the stay of pilgrim yatries and other tourists.
This was disclosed in a meeting convened by Chief Secretary Mr B. R. Kundal after on spot inspection of the works under progress on the Yatri Bhawan building being constructed at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Among others IGP Jammu Range Mr. K. Rajendra, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, District Development Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Vice Chairman, JDA Mr. D. K. Nargotra, Director School Education Mr. A. K. Raina, Director H/S Dr. Jasbir Singh, Chief Engineer PDD Mr. D. S. Pawar, Director tourism Mr. Ajay Khajuria, DIG Jammu Mr. Farooq Khan, SSP City Traffic, RTO, Joint Commissioner Municipality and senior officers were present.
Kundal inspected the minutest aspects of the building including water supply, sanitation, parking sites, electricity, medical facilities, booking centres etc and issued on spot instructions to put in place all these facilities by 10th of June 2008 so that it can be put to use as and when the yatra takes off. He also issued instructions to Jammu Municipal Corporation for extensive cleanliness drive apart from clearance of all the nallahs and arteries in the adjoining areas and Chief Engineer, PDD was asked to fix street lights along the main road of Bhagwati Nagar leading towards Yatri Bhawan. The Chief Secretary also directed the Director School Education Jammu to make available the school buildings in the event of pilgrim rush for yatra as and when the need arises. Director Health Services Jammu was entrusted with the responsibility of initial medical aid infavour of ailing yatries through the competent doctors and paramedical staff, sufficient life saving and other drugs be also made available in the medical aid centre.
This mega project being constructed by the Tourism Department with an estimated cost of nearly Rs.5 crore will accommodate 1500 yatries will full facilities and is spread over an area of 20 kanal and 50 kanal of land is under acquisition and is being developed for parking of vehicles being used by the yatries. It was apprised that a portion accommodating 1000 persons will be ready to host Shri Amar Nath Yatris first time. This Bhawan when completed will cater the flux of yatries for Shri Amarnath Ji and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji langer and other recreations facilities and a provision of fast-food restaurant at nominal rates has also been kept in the project. Elaborate arrangements for drinking water, healthcare, sanitation, PCO, banking facilities, registration counter etc have been made in broader prospective.
